Tatty train update

Following an earlier blog about Southern’s tatty trains I went down to Selhurst depot to see the ongoing refurbishment works on the metro and longer-distance trains. Really impressive – once done the trains look like new and the speed of the work and turnaround is very efficient. The attention to detail on toilet defects is also impressive – not train should have an out of service toilet for very long due to mobile teams chasing down problems. Let’s see what effect this all has in the forthcoming National Passenger Survey awards.

So the tatty train award now passes to First Capital Connect for a class 465 train I went on recently. The toilet was working but in a very poor condition and the inside of the train very tatty, stained and downtrodden. Not good. Are these trains also coming up for TLC?

  1. In my experience, First Capital Connect wins the tatty train award hands down. Particularly for their large fleet of dingy, shabby, barely refurbished and poorly maintained class 319s http://twitpic.com/4wowir

  2. FCC don't have any Class 465s - these are all with South Eastern. Perhaps you mean 365?

I have to use FCC and Southern every day. In my experience FCC wins the tatty train award hands down. Give me a Southern unit any day. Most of the FCC 319s are in a shocking condition.
